NOMEX's electrical, chemical and mechanical properties are extremely high, and its elasticity, flexibility, anti-tearing, moisture resistance and wear resistance are very good. Moreover, it has acid and alkali corrosion resistance. It is not easily destroyed by insects, molds and fungi. It has compatibility with all kinds of varnish, adhesive, transformer liquid, lubricant and coolant. Meanwhile, Nomex has strong thermal resistance — even if the temperature reaches 220℃, the insulation property remains the same. The temperature of a transformer with Nomex insulation can rise up to 180℃ because the transformer needs fewer wires and ferrite cores, resulting in smaller size and lighter weight — thus capital construction expense can be reduced. It is easy to install the transformer. A smaller ferrite core also means smaller no-load loss.
With Nomex wrapped wire, the electrical specification and mechanical properties are outstanding throughout the transformer's entire service life. Nomex wrapping magnet wire is not easy to age and has strong contraction and elasticity; therefore, it ensures that the transformer winding maintains close contact with no cracking. Nomex insulation paper is not sensitive to temperature or dust, thus improving the reliability of transformers.
Nomex's thermal resistance is high, so even when the temperature reaches 220℃, the insulation property remains the same. Rank C of 220℃ replaces Rank H of 180℃ during transformer design, allowing it to handle urgent load situations and unexpected expansion, greatly reducing the need for backup plans.
NOMEX is chemically stable, safely flame retardant, and anti-radiation. Even in the event of a fire, it will not release toxic gases. It does not react with solvents and is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion. After the end of its service life, it is convenient to recycle — the waste can be degraded and will not cause environmental pollution. Nomex is an environmentally friendly high-tech product.
